c1898's Afternoon Dress
This is my recreation of an afternoon dress by Mme. Darsvonval, Paris. The pattern is from Janet Arnold's Patterns of Fashion 2, p.48. The original dress can be found at Manchester City Galleries.
It is made using period accurate techniques, and everything except the white silk frill, waistband streamer and the lace trim on the pleated frills are hand dyed by myself.
The lace insertions are made from two different lace trims mounted on fine tulle for this dress.
