As a child I grew up watching my mum and both my grandmother's crafting fascinating little toys for my sister and I. Being surrounded by crafts of various sorts growing up, I can't remember ever having not enjoyed making things myself. It's been such a natural part of my life for as long as I can remember. I would make dresses for our Barbie dolls made using scrap fabrics and trims mum would give me, and then awkwardly hand sewn them onto the doll, but it was good fun and met a child's quality standard.
After a slightly off choice on my first go at upper secondary school, I tried again on a different path, and went from wanting to become a saddler and working with horses to discover costume making was in fact a job and I could make awesome creations for a living! I worked for 3 years in total to realise my dream of going to London and study costume at Wimbledon College of Arts, and here I am now.
Life has thrown various obstacles in my way over the years, but if it's one thing I've learned, it's that no matter how hard life is beating me up, I won't break. I'll keep going. After all, I'm currently doing what I worked so hard for despite all the obstacles I've ran into and still do.
